I hope everything works out okay for Owen Wilson, the amiable star of Night at the Museum, and other hit movies. He's an appealing character in his films, and I imagine him to be so, as well, in his off-camera life.
But the spate of news about Mr. Wilson had me wondering when he first came to public attention.
Turns out his FirstMention was in 1993. January 8, 1993, to be exact, in an article that appeared in the Dallas Morning News, and noted Wilson's breakout film, Bottle Rocket, slated to appear at the Sundance Film Festival, where it attracted considerable attention.
This year's Sundance Film Festival (Jan. 21-31) features two Texas-made films: El Mariachi, 24-year-old Robert Rodriguez's $7,000 wonder feature, and the 13-minute black-and-white Bottle Rocket, written by Dallasites Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson, who also directed. L.M. Kit Carson served as executive producer and Cynthia Hargrave produced the short, which stars Mr. Wilson, brother Luke Wilson and Bob Musgrave. . . . |
